Here’s an old idea, I decided to brush up on. My original was six frames (see it below), and something I made like 10 years ago (you can watch the original below). I felt the idea was good, but six frames were too many to carry the joke. So I decided to keep it at only three frames instead.
I think the joke is fun, and I had long thought about animating it in After Effects. But then I decided to test if AI video was up to the task. You can watch the result below:
First, here’s the video, AI-generated:

The video consists of two clips, and I had to record my voice and change it afterwards manually. It took me several tries to get this, and actually, it isn’t exactly what I wanted (Santa shouldn’t walk at any stage, but I couldn’t make the AI understand that).
Also, the dog does some weird stuff at the end (I wanted to make it look like it started sniffing its butt, but the animation wasn’t good), and the woman’s face makes something weird. If I want full control, it’s still better to manually do it in After Effects – for now, at least. But it was fun to mess around with.
Another thing I don’t like is the timing of the gag. There’s just something off for the joke to have punch.
Second, here’s the original old drawing:
That old domain doesn’t work anymore, btw.
I think AI is fun for testing out new ideas quickly, but something that looks finished and polished, I wouldn’t use it. – Also, where’s the fun in letting an AI do all the fun stuff?
I hope you liked it =)
